Jordan Brooke Bio

The tater lovers of Benton, KY didn’t know their own strength until August 10, 1983. Joe and Cynthia Hamlin ushered a new wave into Kentucky society when they gave birth to their only daughter, Jordan. Her fiery red hair was a not-so-subtle foreshadowing of the startling impact she continues to have on everyone she meets.

“ If you can imagine a little bitty white girl busting out of her momma’s womb playing ninety instruments, then you know her,” says George Clinton, member of the P-Funk All-Stars and godfather of Miss Hamlin. He wasn’t kidding, either. Ninety. Guitar, accordion, hammered dulcimer, trumpet, mandolin, piano, lap steel, and French horn, to name a few. Her prolific musical expertise has gained her spots on stage with the likes of Riders in the Sky, Michael Bolton (yes, Michael Bolton), Lorrie Morgan, DJ Phillips, Vince Gill and Amy Grant, as well as opening for acts like Sister Hazel.

Jordan’s overwhelming talent was not the only catalyst to her musical endeavors. Her original writing style, similar to a pair of worn in Levi’s, has gained her a solid fan base as well. Her innate charm and considerate nature make her more than a pleasant band member or an eloquent poet – they make her a good friend. Incapable of meeting a stranger, Jordan finds a way to love everyone she meets. Time is the only criteria necessary to discover a mutual interest. She’s witty, laid-back, educated, and thoughtful, and all these traits manifest themselves in her photography. With photographs featured in the Nashville Scene, and on multiple album covers, Jordan has had the honor of photographing Patty Griffin, Jacob Grimm, Steve Earle, Patty Loveless, and Emily DeLoach to name a few.

Like a shifting disco ball are the facets of Jordan’s personality and talent. So bright that you don’t recognize them individually until the noise dies down and everyone’s gone home. But, as the Artist formerly known as Prince always says, “Hide it under a bushel, No! I’m gonna let it shine!” Let it shine, Jordan. Let it shine.
